Storage Expansion:

Synology RX418 can add 4 3.5"/2.5" SATA drive bays to your NAS devices. You can thus ensure high-sustained performance and reliability with Enterprise Series 3.5" SATA HDD drives and Enterprise Series 2.5" SATA SSD drives. These drives also come with built-in data protection.

Plug-and-Play Synology NAS Expansion Unit:

It is provided with an eSATA port that can allow you to connect this NAS expansion device to Synology NAS. This is very simple to install and drives in this expansion unit work as seamlessly as though they were part of the host NAS device.

What’s more, you can manage this connectivity through Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM). You don’t need to install additional software to manage the Synology Rackmount Expansion Unit. Please note that you need to install DSM version requirement: 6.1.4-15217-3 or a later version for optimum management.

User- and Environment-Friendly Management:

It comes with an intuitive and user-friendly interface that lets network administrators manage these devices easily. For instance, when the system is in the inactive stage, you can use DSM to drive hibernation, which leads to cost-saving as well as reduced energy consumption.
